Most Basic Crisp and ever so delicious!

We three collected more wild strawberries this evening
and as soon as we got home i whipped up
this very simple crisp.
All you do is put ANY fruit in any amount you want
in any baking dish :) toss with enough flour and a little sugar to lightly coat

For the topping take some soft butter. . (room temp. . which in this summer heat
has meant practically melted! ) and flour and brown sugar ( and a pinch of salt if you used
unsalted butter) mix with your hands till the consistency is right. .add more of
any of the three ingredients till it tastes good and sticks together when you squeeze it.
crumble on top

bake at 350 for about 1/2 hour or longer if larger crisp.
till lightly browning on top and nice and bubbly!

serve at any temp with or without vanilla ice keeem!

Yes. This is happening.

I just came across this pendant light shade on Decor8
and i am instantly in LOVE with it! I already asked my
very talented little brother if he can make me one
just like it.
It is sooooooo beautiful!

it's true. we're a criminal family. for the last few days we've been
trespassing at this practically abandoned very large historic house just up the
hill from us. it's very intriguing for ONE and so sam and i would once
in a while sneak around up there on one of our many daily walks.. .
and the other day we made the most wonderful discovery!
The most BEAUTIFUL patch of wild strawberries we've EVER seen!
It follows this fabulous old stone wall along the drive way for about
15 or so feet and has just been PACKED with ripe berries that i
reeeeeFUSE to just leave there !
So tonight we three snuck up there again
with our little baggy and filled it as full as we could
reassuring each other that we could always come back
tomorrow. :)

Best Quick Carrots with Garlic and Olive Oil

This is the way i cook carrots if i want to just add them as
a delish side dish to our meal.
They always get eaten ALLLLL UP by my sister and my baby boy :)

Slice up about 6 big carrots
Toss into pan with about 1/2 c water and about 2 tbsp
extra virgin olive oil ( i don't measure but that seems about right . . whatever seems good
to you in proportion to how many carrots )
Add a few cloves of diced garlic
Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes or until carrots are tender
Turn off heat
Add coarse salt and fresh ground pepper
Toss and let set for about 10 minutes.
you could also add fresh herbs if you have them or for a little bit of orange juice
with the water for a citrus version.
all so good!

French Puzzels

These get the Best From My Nest Award for the day
soooooooooooooooooo cute!
i think i might have to have them. :)

Falling Garden

i don't know where this is but i think it's completely FABULOUS.

No Rest for the Weary

I think it is the heavy and gloomy weather and the fact that me and my sister had a
movie marathon last night that went till midnight. but
i was BEYOND tired all day. . still. and it is the WORST part about
being a mother . .to me. . that when you are tired. . you cannot
rest. every now and then you have those days where you
need to curl up in a ball and sleep movie marathon the night before or not.
and you can't .
life must go on as the day before and before that.
I literally daydream about naps now.
I torture myself with images like this .
and i CRAVE sleep like nothing else.

Paris or Bust

Im going to redo a room in our house for my creative space
and think after painting it and getting it nice and clean
i want to just find a nice space rug and then throw lot of
pillows everywhere so i can work on the floor and
have lots of quadrants each for different projects.
tables are just too irritating in little rooms and dust bunnies always
collect under them. this way i can just plop down
and make huge messes and it will always seem like a
creative slumber party.
the only thing is. . how will i keep our two cats and my 11 month old
out of everything!

i want this moment and this space and this adorable sofa.

EVERY D A Y i dream about things i will do that evening. projects i will start that have been tinkering up in my head. but 9 times out of 10 this momma is just too tired.
