Make a strand of colorful flags for someone.

I love this .
I made Sam a strand of orange polka dotted triangle flags for his bedroom.
He LOVES flags. . or anything that hangs from the
ceiling and is capable of "blowing" :)
He was so excited when he saw them.
I love how random the strands in this photo are.
I think i will have to make some
similar.
They would look cute in his playroom.

Good Morning ! have you seen the dentist lately?

I really don't have much to say today. Feeling slightly abused after having a root canal
yesterday. Side note. . take care of your teeth and have your cavities filled before
you NEED a root canal. No . . . really.
I was stupid..
So last night i started to post this and that and realized it was all so
disjointed and that it must be the drugs i was on and
the pain i was still in cuz nothing was coming together.
but i wanted you all to have SOMETHING this morning.
I found This Place recently and it is just so
much fun to look through if you Love Good Food as much as we do.
Enjoy!. . .and do take care of those teeth!

Get Chocolate. Get Organized.

Chocolate Biscotti

1/3 cup soft butter
2/3 cup sugar
beat on high a few minutes till well mixed.

add 2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
beat well.

sift into separate bowl
1 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp b. powder
1/3 cup cocoa powder

add flour mixture to wet in small batches while mixing on low
mix in
1/2 cup choc chips
1/4 cup chopped nuts

oven 375

lay parchment paper on cookie sheet
and shape dough into a loaf and flatten out a bit till its about
3/4 of an inch thick. you can really make them
any size you want. i made them small for gifts at Christmas
but very large this time around.

Bake for about 25 minutes ( again. . adjust for size )
or till feels firm.

Take out and let cool for 15 minutes and then
with a serrated knife slice diagonally and lay back on
parchment. Bake for another 15 to 20 minutes
or till nice and "dry" .

Cool completely before storing.
Enjoy best with a nice mug tea or coffee or a dish of ice cream!

This is the way i started organizing all my random recipes
a few years ago and it is fantastic. If you are like me
and you collect recipes from all over on any and every
scrap of paper. .or napkin. . or envelope! .. .this makes it easy to
keep such things in an organized fashion.

Without a doubt. the cutest clothes you'll ever see.
Click here for Matilda Jane clothes.. . and HERE for the designer's fabulous blog.

On a more personal note. SOOOOOOOOO glad it's the weekend. I plopped down on the sofa after
tucking sam into bed and tidying up the house a little bit. . . intending to sketch or paint or do something
creative... but there was nothing.
This week was a bear... it's been raining cats and dogs for days and days
and we all almost floated away. . but the sun came out just in the nick of time.
pheeeew. .

Newborn Nights

I've been thinking back the last few days
( my baby just turned one so it's been on my mind more than usual)
and there is nothing like the first few nights and weeks
with a newborn. It IS intense , no question.. . but
also so sweet. I've been missing it.
It's such a simple time.
Sooooo basic.
Eat. Rest. Snuggle.

Today

Sweet Love

Perfect Nap

Soooooo .. all who know me well. . know that i will paint and paint and paint
and paint. . for an undetermined number of days , weeks or sometimes even months
and then stop.. . NO MORE!
for another uncertain amount of time.
so for now. . many new pieces will show up!
then i'll be back to posting recipes or some
other strange and wonderful thing.

Oh and today was a delightful one with my
hubbs and bebe. we found an old rocking/ bouncing horse for a buck
like the ones we had when we were little . . . the springs of which somehow
pinch your legs once in a while. CLASSIC!
It's now up in the woods with Sam's swing and Turtle
sandbox. Looks like a mini circus up there!

Ohhhh im Soooo Happy with the way this came out!
Finished last night all curled up on the sofa with a movie
and fireworks in the background. :) I can't believe my sam didn't wake up!
I thought for SURE he would . . but i just kept painting and before i knew it
it was done and he was still sound asleep.
He sleeps through the nite now so i feel like i have a
major part of my SELF back.
Praise the Lord!

The Magic Quilt

Sketch i am starting to paint tonight.
The pencil never shows up very well once it has been scanned in.
Not impressed.
I love the Bird and the fact that she sleeps on her stomach. .like i do.

These are both part of "The magic Quilt" series. . .which has only just begun. :)

In the making

Today for the first time in weeks i had both the time AND energy to
pick up my paintbrush.
I have all these cute/silly/childish ideas floating around in my head, many of which
i have drawn first in crayon with my baby crawling over or playing
beside me. Dozens and dozens of brightly colored
little sketches hang in his playroom.
Right now we both love quilts. I love drawing them and
He loves looking at them. He will grab the finished
piece and crumple it most affectionately. :) and then
i will un-crumple it as best i can and tape it up
next to the others.
I have hopes to do many more cozy
hedge hog and owl and other critter
paintings. Soon to be prints available at
my shop.
