Oh . . . . right.

Cabbages grow

 B o y s  grow faster

and neither cabbages nor boys need shoes in summer  :)

actually. . my 17 month olde has never worn shoes yet!  haha!
handknit booties in winter. . but that was it.
we tried this and that but nothing seemed as good as
just bare feet.

h o m e

it feels like summerintofall
. . which is actually it's own season in Maine.
it's not summer. . and it's not fall.
it's stuck in between for a bit. .
and it's the BEST season of all.

today i love. .  ( and im not counting anymore. . because as with most things with numbers. . i give up already. . . but i don't care. )

so today. . in no particular order :)

i love that when you're an adult you can REALLY hurt yourself and be in
excruciating pain. . but not cry.
i recently banged my head right near my eye SOOO HARD i thought i was going to pass out!
but instead of crying. . i just stood there. . in quite a lot of pain. . and then got back to my day.

interesting.

i love that moment when you're on a long walk and you realize you have to go all the way BACK
i don't love that actually...
but it's good to push yourself.    :)

i realized the other day when out with my little boys . .and walking through a pine forest patch
that the smell of hot sunbaked pineneedles on a forest floor. . is my all time favorite smell in the whole wide world.

For the Small. the simple. the sweet.

our pocket
we all love to watch as she goes about
  scratching for worms and things.
it's quite calming.

our little family. . in maple leaves.

this turnip was perfect on the outside. . but you wouldn't
even believe how rotten it was on the inside.
i was sad  . . and a little mad. . because i had bought it at a farmers market on a beautiful sunny morning
expecting the best. .

but. . it was a good illustration to me. . of myself.
pretty on the outside.
rotten on the inside. . but for the Grace of Christ Jesus! :)
He is the Only One who can make the inside as healthy and beautiful as

 the outside.

We are all but shells of beauty without the fullness
of the Grace of God within us.

oh the chubby hands. . . i love you so.

oooooooooooh. . . twiggys

this morning
i just couldn't stop myself
from popping outside
and snapping a few pictures

of the little things
about the house
that i love so well.
the air was so crisp and cold
and the sun so sweet.

everything looked peaceful and happy
.

also . . .
sweater sleeves make very nice leg warmers. . once a giant stain lands on the front of your sweater that you just can't get out. :)

hello little pinecone. how are you today.

Creeping in. . .

this has been a month of settling back into
our home after a long full fun summer.
a new baby for us.
a wedding for my baby sister.
gardens grown and harvested and
almost done being packed away for winter.
Now is time for the wood to come in
and extra blankets to be unfolded and put onto beds
and on the sofa. . ready for snuggling under
at a moments notice.
now is the time for more piles of books to read to the littles,
more baking do be done so we're sure to put on
a few extra "warmth" pounds for the cold that is
on the move. :)
And time for settling down
and settling in for a long
New England Fall and Winter.
i Love the layers and boots and hats,
wood boxes and bundles of kindling,
extra justtowarmup mugs of tea and coffee.
I love the coziness that just creeps back into the
house this season.
Excited to knit once again, excited to learn
something new, excited to see baby learn to
crawl this winter.
Excited just to BE.

tiny wonders

some of the tiniest things in the world.
are the most beautiful
my husband found this tiny little acorn baby
on a small rocky beach on a sunny sunday afternoon.
he gave it to me.
it made my day :)

on sunny mornings the light hovers on
this little hutch for only a short while
but it is so sweet for that time.
everything looks perfectly at home.
