Love is
making dinner
I have recently been thinking often about
my mother and what it must have been
like taking care of 6 children
day in and out.
The very first and most prevalent image is one of
her standing at either the sink or the stove
calmly and quietly washing. . or cooking. for HOURS . every single day.
and these images alone make me
feel so loved. so cared for. and they truly
melt my heart.
because of my mother
i see doing the dishes. . as love. what love LOOKS like.
What does love look like to you? ? :)

Nice reflection, Rach!
Another place that Mom spent a lot of time "loving" those she cared for was in the laundry room. Transforming the living pile of dirty socks and everything else that goes with them into clean, fresh smelling linens was a never ending job. The towels alone were a load every day.
Examples like hers do help us appreciate the fact that "real love" (the verb - not the feeling) always involves personal sacrifice. Our LORD Jesus taught us that there is "No greater love than for one to lay down his/her life for a friend." Dying one task at a time takes sincere commitment and a selfless affection - the kind that finds enduring satisfaction in blessing the beloved.
May Almighty God remind us how much we are loved and enable us all to play our part well today.
Love ya, Dad
